Bible Studies

I love to write and I love to study the Bible, so this is the page that will get the most activity.

Beware, I get easily distracted and most of the studies you will find here are not complete at the time they are posted. I do hope to eventually complete them, but until then I hope that you can gain some insight or even some interesting reading on those times when you just don't have the gumption to study for yourself; we all have those days don't we.

At this point none of these studies are edited beyond the editing I do as I write, so don't send me any corrections for grammar or the like. I would love, however, to receive any other feedback, good or bad as to the content of the articles. I realize that I am not formally trained in theology and will receive kindly any input and respond graciously to any questions.

The way I will work this is to put the title, if I have one, and the first few sentences on this page. If you want to read further just click on more... and it will take you to the complete study.

I pray that you receive the same blessing from reading that I have from studying and writing.

To Canaan's Land

Why did Terah take his family and head for the land of Canaan? It was his stated intention to go all the way to Canaan, but he stopped at a place Terah named Haran, after his son who had passed.

For several years I have pondered where Terah fits in the story of Abraham and faith. It seems to me that scripture tells us that Terah was moved to gather up what was his and head out for Canaan, but only made it about half way there. So, the question I have wrestled with is this: "Did the Lord first call Terah who did not have the faith to complete the journey? Or, was it Abram who was called, but allowed his relationship with his father to distract him from the calling of God?" More...

The Character of God

Ro 11:22 See then that God is good but his rules are fixed: to those who were put away he was hard, but to you he has been good, on the condition that you keep in his mercy; if not, you will be cut off as they were. (Basic English Bible / BBE)

"I will have Mercy on Whom I will have Mercy"

This study is in the form of a letter. It was written in response to a brother stating something to the effect of; "We can't tell people they have to be baptized to go to heaven. Look at Romans 9; God says he will have mercy on whom he will have mercy? How do we know what he is going to do?" More...
