The Character of God

Romans 11: 1-36 (22, 33-36)

Ro 11:22 See then that God is good but his rules are fixed: to those who were put away he was hard, but to you he has been good, on the condition that you keep in his mercy; if not, you will be cut off as they were. (Basic English Bible / BBE)

What does Paul mean “the kindness and sternness of God?” (This is from the NIV)

God wants to be gracious, but he has standards that he will not violate and can not violate because they are his very nature and character.

Do you have any standards that you just wont' violate?

Talk about microchip processors: The slightest flaw makes the chip useless; it must be recycled.

Mark 15: 33-39 Why did God, his Father, turn away from Jesus?

Because he had taken on the sin of all the world. Jesus died because of sin.

Hebrews 9: 19-22

Lev 17: 11

So why does God require blood?

Ro 6:23

Why do people receive wages? Sinners have earned death by their actions, their lifestyle.

Ro 3: 19-26

According to the scriptures, who is without sin? Are you a sinner?

What does Romans 6 say you have earned? What do you deserve?

So if you are a sinner what can you do about it?

Romans 6: 1-5

All who accept baptism admit to their guilt of sin. And, that by their sin they have participated in the killing of Jesus. Therefore, they choose to accept his death as an atoning sacrifice for their sins.
